Veracity Q&A home login about faq

I'm attempting to run Veracity on Windows Server 2003 R2 (x64) but when I run vv.exe I get this error:

The procedure entry point inet_pton could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll.

I did not use the installer to install, just from the zip file (I'm hoping to not install Tortoise Veracity on this machine).

According to documentation inet_pton is Windows Vista and higher, but according to your release notes Veracity was tested on an XP machine. What do I need to get/install to get it to work for me?

Thank you! Jeff

As of the latest 2.0 beta build (2.0.0.10804) the 64-bit Windows zip will work on 64-bit XP and 2003 server.

We'll continue to block installation with the MSI. The explorer shell extensions have some issues that won't get sorted out for the 2.0 final release.

Thank you, I deleted the 64-bit install and used the 32-bit version and it worked fine on the same machine.

The current installer for the 2.0 beta will not let me install the 64-bit version nor the 32-bit version on this same machine configuration. On the 64-bit version it tells me that I can't install the 64-bit version on a pre-Vista box. While the 32-bit version tells me to run the 64-bit installer.

We haven't tested Veracity on 64-bit versions of Windows older than Vista, but I'll look into this.

The zip distribution that you used previously is available for the 2.0 beta, too. Did you try that and have trouble?

Yup, the zip distribution (x86) worked just fine.
